Adam is part of a large family, most of whom hunt together.
A young athlete, Adam became intrigued with archery and the challenge of grouping
arrows while helping his family at a hunting show in August 2001. His Mother surprised
him with his own bow after that show; his Grandfather helped him set it up. He went on
his first hunt with his Grandparents on October 21, 2001 in Georgia.
With his Tree Saddle and new compound bow, Adam harvested a 7 point buck that field dressed at
150 pounds! With that first hunt and a major case of buck fever, Adam discovered his
deep passion for our sport. He was 14 years old at the time. The following year 2002, he harvested 6 whitetail deer, 2 Male
Wood ducks, participated in a hog hunt and helped dress a hog, watched a Gobbler in full strut on his first turkey hunt and had
his tags to go on an elk hunt in Wyoming and Whitetail hunt in Illinois. School came first (his grades and athletics); but any extra
time Adam had was spent hunting, fishing, shooting or promoting our sport.
He turned 16 on November 3, 2002. His life here was
ended in a car accident on July 25, 2003 on the way to a hunting show.
Adam wanted to
experience every kind of hunting, fishing and shooting sports there is! He
couldn't get enough of it! He told his Mother, "I can't help it Mom; I
think about Hunting all the time!" He was the nucleus of activity around
family and friends. If Adam went fishing, his friends and cousins were
fishing; if he went whitetail scouting or hunting, his friends and cousins
wanted to go. Turkey hunting, duck hunting, hog hunting, frog gigging, you
name it . . . . Adam tried it or at least planned to. He always compared
the "Thrill"
he experienced from the different kinds of hunting and fishing he did. That's why, this series of books being developed
to carry on Adam's love, is called "The Thrill of the Hunt". It was always a thrill to see the excitement in his eyes! His love of our
sport was reflected even in his artwork as he began drawing pictures of wildlife which he hoped to sell at hunting shows with the
family.
I will always believe that Adam's love of hunting and fishing reinforced his high standards and values. His commitment to his
passion and fun loving spirit inspired other young people to grow in the sport of hunting and fishing and to follow Adam's example
both as a Young Sportsman and as a quality individual.
Adam had a strong sense of conviction for right and wrong and an admirable quality of seeing the good in people and overlooking
flaws. He loved God and wasn't afraid to show it in the way he lived his life. He respected the integrity of the woods always leaving
his hunting & fishing areas the way he found them; he had a deep passion and respect for the Spirit of Fair Chase. He respected the
authority of his parents and elders; he respected God's world. He loved God; he loved people; and he loved animals. Adam was a
tremendous role model for his peers and family.
With Adam's enthusiasm and love for our sport, he helped many young people get involved with hunting and fishing and helped them
learn that they too can be successful and fulfilled year-round; all they needed was a little guidance and/or inspiration. It is my hope that
you too can get to know Adam through "The Thrill of the Hunt" and become part of his adventures! You too can become part of Adam's
mission to grow our sport and become part of the coolest group of young people in the country: True Sportsmen!

Adam was very talented in so many
ways. One of his special gifts was playing the
guitar. Here is a song that he is playing called, "Here To
Stay".

Listen to Adam's
message on his phone. He had such a sense of
humor
